Bunch of Crock

*warning this post contains adult language

Safwat Saleem is the graphic designer behind these hilarious posters. He is Pakistani and has been living in the US since before 9/11. Saleem says this project is a “gag reflex” to the current political climate and believes things have only gotten worse since 2001.

I am really digging the minimal use of color in junction with basic transparent shapes on a textured background. It’s kinda hard these days to be original with vintage photos from “pleasentville” but I’d say he nailed it. If only more people channeled their anger towards politics into making sweet designs…

Bunch of Crock currently consists of 12 posters, as well as buttons, stickers, postcards, and some other goodies that you can purchase here. Saleem even put on a full exhibition for the project which I believe included this box of bullshit. Below each poster is a quote, fact or an anecdote that served as the inspiration for that particular poster.

‘’It’s a flat-out lie. I read my Bible. He made this earth for us to utilize.’’
– Norman Dennison, electrician and founder of the Corydon (Indiana) Tea Party, speaking about climate change

‘’Being a strong Christian, I cannot help but believe the Lord placed a lot of minerals in our country and it’s not there to destroy us.’’
– Lisa Deaton, small business owner and founder of WeThePeopleIndiana.org

‘’I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan.”
– President Barack Obama, August 13, 2010 at a White House Ramadan dinner

”I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding.’’
– President Barack Obama, August 14, 2010

‘’They [illegal immigrants] use it as a wedge. This is an orchestrated effort by them to come here and have children to gain access to the great welfare state we’ve created.”
– Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, defending his idea of rewriting the 14th Amendment

‘’We do not want to be told how to behave in matters of personal safety. We do not want to be forced to wear seat belts or helmets because others think that it is good for us.”
– Robert Ford, chairman of Massachusetts Freedom First

Tea Party
“Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas… it is a part of earth’s life cycle. And yet we are being told that we have to reduce this natural substance and reduce the American standard of living.”
– Rep. Michele Bachmann on the House floor on Earth Day, 2009

‘’Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies. And I know you’re not. I’m not accusing you of being an enemy, but that’s the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way.”
– Glenn Beck, conservative news commentator, to Keith Ellison, the first Muslim to be elected to the House of Representatives
